Cobras and Dolphins into semis after victories
The Nashua Cape Cobras beat the bizhub Highveld Lions by 53 runs in their final match of the MTN Domestic Championship first round.
The Cobras won the toss and elected to bat first at Boland Park in Paarl.
They totalled 214 for 6 in 45 overs thanks to another Man of the Match performance by opener Henry Davids.
He scored 116 off 140 balls to continue his impressive form ever since being moved up the order.
In reply the Lions were 161 all out in the 39th over.
Andre Nel was used as a pinch-hitter at number three and scored 58 off 45 balls.
Francois Plaatjies took 3 for 21 in 7 overs.
In Sunday's other match, the Nashua Dolphins beat the Chevrolet Warriors by 3 wickets at St George's Park in Port Elizabeth.
The Warriors won the toss and batted first.
They scored 181 for 9 in 45 overs, with the Proteas one day vice captain, Johan Botha, top scoring with 47.
Man of the Match, John Kent took 2 for 23 in 5 overs and then scored 86 off 119 balls as the Dolphins reached the target on the last ball.
The Cobras finished third on the log and will face the second placed Nashua Titans in the semi-finals.
The fourth placed Dolphins will take on the log leaders, the Gestetner Diamond Eagles.
